First of all, for those who haven't been following Tantilly for very long, a little introduction.

HOW DID TANTILLY COME ABOUT?

Exactly 10 years ago, Chantal, then 23, opened her first small business, Tantilly, on the Kleine Overstraat in Deventer.

The word 'Tantilly' literally means 'creativity, handmade, unique' in a Turkish dialect. Tantilly was an appropriate name for the cute shop, which initially sold only handmade jewelry and loose beads.

Later the assortment was supplemented with colorful dresses. Chantal and her mother also made skirts and bags which they then sold in the store.

It was a success; Tantilly burst at the seams!

Soon there was not enough room for all the colorful products and all the ideas of Chantal. Especially the demand for unique, colorful dresses and clothing items was enormous and Chantal kept looking for unique items.

The first Tantilly shop, super small, but packed with stuff!

Unfortunately, Chantal was absolutely not satisfied with the offer, especially because she wanted to maintain the 'Unique and Affordable' concept.

The dresses were often too expensive or the fit was not good.

Especially for Dutch women, who often do not wear a size 36, Chantal often failed to find something good among what was offered.

Often the models were very tight and the (better) brand dresses were quite expensive.

Furthermore, Chantal did not like the fact that most of the clothing was produced in China or in developing countries.

Chantal asked herself the following questions.

- Who checks whether clothing is made under good conditions?

- Who actually makes my clothes?

- Who actually gets the profits (especially those of brands)?

- Are the workers paid well enough?

WHAT IS THE BEAUTIFUL THOUGHT BEHIND TANTILLY PRODUCTS?

Chantal is quite fond of travelling and during her travels around the world she met all kinds of people.

These gave her the idea to start producing her own small collections; and not at large factories, but at small, fun and inspiring family businesses!

Chantal noticed that there were so many lovely people with talent and craftsmanship.

Craftsmanship that cannot be taken over by machines.

Chantal has experienced that especially the personal contact with these people led to the most beautiful products and collections. All handmade with a lot of love.

And, what Chantal finds very important, these suppliers receive good, fair prices for their products!

This allows an entire family and sometimes an entire village to grow and provide for its own livelihood.

Chantal knows everyone personally and therefore has insight into all working conditions.

She still travels a few times a year to create a new collection and to purchase the most beautiful items.

This concept was a huge success.

The clothing was specially designed for Dutch women and had a good fit, even for fuller women.

And, the quality was good! We at Tantilly find it very important that the collections are for sale for a good and affordable price!

A good price for everyone, for you as a customer, and also for the supplier! That is what we call Fair Trade Fashion!

Tantilly started with three models of dresses.

Within three weeks all the dresses were sold out!

And then winter had yet to even begin!

In the meantime, Chantal moved to a larger building with many more possibilities, also in the Kleine Overstraat.

This building offered much more space for more items and the range was expanded to include home and fashion accessories.

And of course more clothes were added! Also the Team Tantilly was expanded.

The newest Tantilly store, a world of difference.

WHO MAKES UP 'TEAM TANTILLY'?

Tantilly is now 10 years old and has 3 self-designed and produced clothing collections further. The Tantilly Team now consists of no less than 5 women, and they are: Chantal, Karin, Hannet, Ko and Vivi-Ann.

Chantal started Tantilly 10 years ago.

At first she was always active full-time in the store, but now you will see Chantal less in the store, because she works a lot behind the scenes.

Chantal does everything in the field of social media, such as the webshop, Facebook and Instagram.

She also designs the clothing and jewelry collections together with the other ladies, travels all over the world to buy or have the most beautiful items made, and organizes all kinds of things to make Tantilly even more beautiful and fun for you! :)

Karin has been working at Tantilly for more than 3 years, and we are so happy with her!

Thanks to Karin's organizational talent and her neatness, everything runs smoothly at Tantilly, both in front of and behind the scenes.

Karin also actively helps develop the clothing.

She draws patterns for the new clothing to be produced and is very active on the sewing machine.

Many handmade products in the shop have been pimped or made by Karin, and she does this with a lot of love.

Hannet has become an indispensable part of Tantilly, and we are proud that she is part of our team! A very creative lady, who does the windows and shop interiors for Tantilly, with a lot of love and passion.

Hannet also actively helps organize the store and always has great ideas.

She helps to come up with new models of clothing and fabrics and is always up for a nice chat. The coffee and tea are ready. ;)

Jacoba, alias Ko, is our sociable person and fits perfectly with the cozy atmosphere of Tantilly! Always cheerful, helpful and a ray of sunshine in the store.

We are super happy to have Ko in our team!

In addition to the fun work in the store, Ko is actively involved in creating beautiful texts, inspiration and everything else related to text, language and spelling for the webshop and social media.

And then, last but not least, Vivi-Ann.

This sweet lady has been working at Tantilly for a while now and brings a lot of fun with her.

With her always good mood and her good eye for the small details, she is a real addition to the Tantilly team.

She is always up for a chat and enjoys helping you choose combinations and advising you.

And then there is also Chantal's lovely family who do a lot of things to keep Tantilly running and organized. Without all these lovely people, Tantilly would not have grown so fast in recent years!

WHAT ARE TANTILLY'S PLANS FOR THE NEAR FUTURE?

Because Tantilly loves dreams and has collected some new dreams, there is a lot to happen in the coming year!

- This year there will be no fewer than 5 collections in the store instead of 2.

- Tantilly will be at the best festivals in the Netherlands this year. We will (most likely) be at the Lorelei Festival and the Libelle Summer Week.

- Because the webshop is going 'like a rocket', this year it will be expanded with a very large collection of jewelry, accessories and clothing. We already send our packages to all corners of the world!

- The shop also has to believe in it; we are going to renovate and Tantilly is getting a mega warehouse, office and photo space! YAY!

- Because the store will also have a larger surface area, there will probably be an even greater choice of products!!

WOW! We are so happy with all these plans! Hopefully you are too!

Tantilly currently supports children in Asia.

Part of the profit flows back to Bali, among other places, where an entire family is supported in their living expenses and the school fees for all the children are also paid.

Tantilly wants to significantly expand this assistance in the (near) future to help even more beautiful people.

We want to set up more development projects, especially in the field of education. In this way, Tantilly wants to make the world a little more beautiful.
