Exploring the Textile Symphony of Tantilly: Fabrics and their benefits

Fashion is much more than just style; it's an intricate blend of artistry, functionality, and comfort. At the heart of every beloved garment lies its fabric.

As a brand celebrated for its vibrant use of colors and mesmerising patterns, Tantilly recognises the profound impact that fabric choice has on the design and wearability of their clothes.

This blog explores the unique fabrics Tantilly employs—viscose, cotton, rayon, silk mix, and micro fabric—and the benefits each brings to our distinctive garments.

This is the fabrics we often are using in Tantilly, and sometimes people ask, which fabric is what? Here a small explanation of each of this fabrics.

Viscose: Luxurious Comfort with Breathability

Viscose, derived from natural cellulose, is a natural fabric known for its silk-like appearance and softness. It's an excellent choice for those who desire elegance without compromising comfort.

Viscose is breathable and moisture-wicking, making it perfect for warmer climates. Its ability to drape beautifully ensures that dresses and skirts made from it move gracefully, enhancing the wearer’s silhouette.

In Tantilly we often uses viscose for flowing dresses, ensuring we not only look elegant but feel airy and lightweight. as we like, we combine the retro look and the boho look in the dresses we make.

Cotton: The Timeless Natural Fiber

Cotton stands as one of the most beloved and versatile fabrics in the world, and for good reason. Renowned for its breathability and softness, cotton is ideal for almost every piece of clothing.

It’s hypoallergenic, which means it’s perfect for sensitive skin.

In Tantilly’s we use cotton, especially to create retro style and classic style, underscores a commitment to comfort while providing a sturdy, washable fabric that retains vibrant colors—a hallmark of our lively approach to fashion.

We work with 100% cotton, a non- stretchable variant, which we use for our reversible dresses, reversible skirts and some of our summer blouses.

In other dresses we use the 95% variant, a stretchable kind, which is mixed with 5% lycra, and therefor makes it stretchable.

Rayon: the versatile All-Rounder

Rayon is a highly versatile fabric that's also derived from natural cellulose but processed to emulate silk, wool, or cotton. It is incredibly versatile and can mimic the texture and feel of luxury fabrics. Rayon is breathable and absorbs moisture, making it suitable for both summer and layered styling.

In Tantilly we takes advantage of rayon’s adaptability by using it in both boho clothes and retro dresses, providing affordability without skimping on the luxurious feel.

We use this rayon most in our summer collection, because it's amazing for warm temperatures, and is still breathable, even if the temperatures go higher then 30 degrees. It feels really light and 'airy' by wearing, and this fabric is a absolute favourite of many lady's.

Silk Mix: Elegance with Durability

Silk mixes combine genuine silk with other fibers to achieve the perfect balance of luxury and practicality.  A blend that makes the fabric more strong.

The luxurious feel of silk often comes with higher maintenance, but when blended, it retains its opulence while becoming more durable and easier to care for.

In Tantilly we utilize silk mix in our premium boho and retro pieces, where the aim is to offer a high-end sheen and texture with enhanced wearability, wrapping the wearer in elegance suited for special occasions.

We have a big collection of silk mix items, mostly dresses and skirts, but also kimono's, blouses and pants in the collection.

The Silk mix collections is made in our fair trade studio's in India.

Microfabric: The Modern Performance Fabric

Micro fabric, often involving microfiber technology, refers to finely woven fibers that give a soft touch and exceptional performance features.

Known for its resilience, stain resistance, and ability to keep its shape, micro fabric is great for both retro wear and printed dresses and pants. Micro fabric's wrinkle resistance is a bonus for the busy modern individual.

When incorporated into our unique designs, it caters to those who need reliable but stylish wear, perfect for travels and busy lifestyles.

It is often used in sport wear normally, because the quality stays amazing, even with a lot of movement, washing and activity.

We in Tantilly use it a lot in our Lilou dresses, in Zoe dresses, in Belize pants and recently also in Lilou shirts. Also our favorite Ultimate pants are made from this fabric.

It's stays amazing, even after many washing and wearing, and it dries very fast after washing.
