Lovely, cheerful earrings in the shape of a pineapple!
Nice to know about the PINEAPPLE:
- For centuries the pineapple has been a symbol of hospitality.
Indians in the Caribbean put pineapple at the entrance of their houses as a sign of hospitality! Sometimes the fruit even was put at the entrance of a village.
- Explorer Christopher Columbus 'discovered' pineapple in Middle-America (to be exact Guadeloupe) and brought it back to Europe.
The climate in Europe wasn't suited for the cultivation of the pineapple. Only rich people, who could afford a so-called heated pit, could grow and eat pineapple in those days.
- Pineapple is a very healthy fruit; it contains a lot of vitamins!
- Especially in the 18th and 19th century the fibers of pineapple leaves were used to make fabrics.
The fabrics were loved because of their light and breezy quality which made that clothing made of them was very suitable for wearing in a tropical climate!
